Legal terms

What is a cookie?

Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer's hard drive by websites you visit. They enable the website to 'remember' who you are, using data such as the host name, a unique number-based ID, and potentially an expiry date.

What are cookies used for ?

We use the cookies on this website to 'recognise' the user so that his data can be passed from page to page and to collect website statistics. For example, cookies can be used to store the content of a shopping cart, to save language settings or to provide targeted advertising.

What is the applicable legal framework ?

By amending Article 5(3) of Directive 2002/58//EC by adopting Directive 2009/136/EC, the EU established that the data access and storage principles on a user's drive should only happen with the prior consent of the user, unless such actions are strictly necessary for the provider to provide an expressly requested service by the user. Article 32-II of 6 January 1978 French law encompasses this principle.
